JP Morgan may be known for being one of the most powerful bankers ever. But his impact has been everlasting.

James Pierpont Morgan founded private banks and financed major industries during a pivotal time of economic expansion in America. As an avid investor and entrepreneur he financed railroads, steel, and agricultural equipment. His contributions to many burgeoning industries such as railroads stimulated other industries like iron and steel production. The advancement during the railroad boom in America helped the transportation industry make its mark on travel for every citizen today. Following his tremendous influence on the railroad industry J.P. Morgan made major consolidations to form General Electric, United States Steel, and International Harvester (Navistar International) which still stand to this day.

James was a humble leader who cared deeply about his profession. He emphasized the importance of character in banking and spoke avidly on the moral duties banks must have in society. He wasn’t focused on the material but positive influences to make the lives of every citizen better. Leadership was always on display with his continual resolve to improve given any opportunity.
