Sal Khan began his life in Louisiana as the son of Bengali parents. After working hard as a student, he graduated from MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) with a bachelor's and masters of science degree. After graduating from MIT, Khan worked as a hedge fund analyst and began tutoring his cousin in mathematics using Yahoo's Doodle notepad. Sal then created a YouTube channel where he made tutorials for students. His YouTube channel then took off, and he began receiving worldwide interest, with more than 458 million views in the first few years. Khan Academy exploded across all platforms when Bill Gates mentioned that his children learned using videos from YouTube and their website.
Today Sal remains the CEO of Khan Academy. Since his creation, Khan Academy has remained a nonprofit with the belief that education is a human right. The services have remained free, and anyone can access a world-class education through the web. Sal also founded the Schoolhouse.world, Khan Lab School, and Khan World School, all nonprofits that continue to improve education and personalize it towards each individual.
